Kinda doubt it."

Michael, I actually have to disagree with you just a little bit when it comes to your assertion blacks don't drive while revoked more than white people. I don't have my big book of statistics in front of me, but I do know from experience that blacks do drive while revoked more often than whites, simply because fewer blacks get their licenses legally to begin with. Last I recall, students at MPS have to pay for drivers education, and unfortunately far too many black kids simply can't afford to pay the drivers education fees, so they choose instead to drive without a license, and inevitably that leads to license suspensions and revocations.Zach W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08961303805266463551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-22892425259207350502007-10-09T17:50:00.000-05:002007-10-09T17:50:00.000-05:00while we do put our people away more than twice as...while we do put our people away more than twice as often/per 100K capida, the actual statistics are more subtle. Minnesota locks up 139 whites and 1755 blacks for 2001 according to the sentencing project org. Wisconsin locks up 350 whites and 4058 blacks. Minnesota locks up 139 whites and 1755 blacks. So it appears to be true that we lock up twice as many blacks. However, when one looks at the desparity rates, Wisconsin comes in at 11.59 and Minnesota at 12.63. Therefore, we can arrive at the assumption that Minnesota is more racist than Wisconsin.

Is any disparity ratio good? No.

As far as the claim that the two states are comparable in most ways, I'll let the quality of that claim stand for itself.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-30517115196885835602007-10-09T09:00:00.000-05:002007-10-09T09:00:00.000-05:00Kshorwood, is that correct? That is one very powerful statistic if you have a legitimate basis for it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-61414879747484402482007-10-07T09:14:00.000-05:002007-10-07T09:14:00.000-05:00As a devote Christian, John McAdams would say your...As a devote Christian, John McAdams would say your reasoning is faulty because all African Americans should be locked up.

We put our people away twice as often as our neighbor Minnesota, which is comparable to us in most ways. There is something pathological going on in Wisconsin.krshorewoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00417863312104824551noreply@blogger.com
