Just because you don't like him personally does not mean that he is not well-liked in this state by others who are interested in seeing how he's doing in neighboring Iowa. His run, while quixotic, is still newsworthy because of his life-long ties to the state.

And let's not get started on Doyle's regime with his undying love and support for the teacher's union, lawyers, casino money, and soon-to-be the highest tax hike ever.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-43338090518911608982007-08-07T11:35:00.000-05:002007-08-07T11:35:00.000-05:00Want a second/third opinion, check out the followi...Want a second/third opinion, check out the following...http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2007/03/tommy-thompson-2008.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-30553928360497703442007-08-07T11:16:00.000-05:002007-08-07T11:16:00.000-05:00Anony:If the J-S wants to cover Thompson as a mino...Anony:

If the J-S wants to cover Thompson as a minor curiosity, fine. But they fauwn all over him, treating him like he's legitimate, hanging on his every word.

And I'm not proud of a favorite son like Thompson running for president -- I don't care how many times he was elected. I was in Madison in the mid-90s and I know the blatant cronyism and ugly tone of those years, as Thompson tried to dismantle the social safety net and re-make state government for the benefit of various private entities and other contributors.

He was a bad governor, was worthless at HSS and now makes his money joining corporate boards for health-care companies that he used to regulate. The J-S loses a lot of credibility by hitching to this dark, dim star.Mike Plaistedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18184502941014520240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-89439780217422972302007-08-07T11:13:00.000-05:002007-08-07T11:13:00.000-05:00How can you say TGT isn't qualified? Can Obama or even Hillary say they have that much experience in federal government or state leadership? Looking over the shoulder of your philandering husband does not count, sorry.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-20656978518953042852007-08-07T10:12:00.000-05:002007-08-07T10:12:00.000-05:00Certainly everyone enjoys having a national politi...Certainly everyone enjoys having a national political celebrity in their midst’s, but Tommy is less qualified, less dignified and certainly less savvy than any serious presidential contender in recent history. He is, in fact, an embarrassment to the good state of Wisconsin. The Journal Star coverage reminds me of the local TV news “personalities” who, whenever talking about Hollywoods latest movie, want to find a “Wisconsin connection”. Give it up guys, we’re not Hollywood and we are certainly not Washington.

Mike, as always, insightful, thoughtful, well written, and you are so sexy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20755638.post-15100992933337145712007-08-07T09:39:00.000-05:002007-08-07T09:39:00.000-05:00I recall a certain democrat presidential candidate...I recall a certain democrat presidential candidate promising that people like Christopher Reeve would walk again if he were elected.

So the former 12-year Governor of our state who is now running for President of the United States should NOT be covered? If this were Doyle I would expect the same coverage. Having a former Governor of your state run for President is unique and may only happen once a century, so the coverage is very much warranted regardless of party affiliation.

I think the JS also knows that TGT will have some classic flubs along the campaign trail so they're just ready to pounce on him, much like you did in your blog post.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
